Philippines Tokay Gecko

A large, stunning gecko familiar to millions of Southeast Asia's rural dwellers; this species commonly takes up residence in the roofs of village huts and houses.  At night it emerges to feed on insects and small vertebrates. It can be located by its call - a loud 'toku' similar to the large forest gecko . The species is easily distinguished by its size, and distinctive pattern of reddish-orange spots on a blue-grey background. This is a wide-ranging species, extending from  most of the Indonesia and Philippine islands.  In Philippines it is now rarely seen due to forest destructions & urbanisation .
